A first timer’s guide to clear kayaking in Rock Springs!
If you’re thinking about paddling through Rock Springs for the first time, let us help you prepare! Rock Springs truly is one of the most stunning places you could paddle through in central Florida. With crystal clear blue waters and scenery that feels untouched, it’s the perfect spot for beginners, families, or anyone craving a Florida adventure! The paddle can be a bit of a work out, but we take a few stops on the tour to let everyone take breaks! Nothing beats the feeling we get when we see our guest’s faces light up when they see the crystal clear blue water for the first time.
What to expect
Our clear kayaks let you see everything beneath you. From fish swimming by, to underwater plants moving with the flow of the natural running spring, there’s something exciting around every corner. Keeping an eye out is all a part of the fun. The natural running water is about 2-3mph and shallow in many areas. We mentioned taking a few stops along the way and those areas are between 2-4 ft deep with the rest of the run being about 6ft deep. You don’t have to get out of your kayak but the springs stay around 72 degrees all year long. Being in Florida it’s hard to say no to taking a dip!
Do first timers need kayaking experience?
Not at all! We welcome first timers. During the check in process, our guides walk you through the basics, help you get comfortable in your clear kayak, and keep a laid back “pace with purpose.” Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help if you need it! That’s what our guides are there for! Most guests find paddling easier than they expected, especially with our comfortable boat seats and rutters that are attached to the backs of the clear kayaks. They’re in place to help you maintain a controlled and smooth ride!
What to bring?
When in doubt, keep it simple:
- Swimsuits or clothes you don’t mind getting wet
- Water
- Sunscreen / hat
- A towel for afterward
- A change of clothes for afterwards
As we mentioned earlier, the springs stay around 72 degrees year round, so wearing something you don’t mind getting a little wet is perfect!
