Are Pets Allowed on Our Tours?
Pets are just like any member of our family, and sometimes we want to share our special experiences with them! Taking your pet on a kayaking trip with Get Up and Go Kayaking – Crystal River can be a great opportunity to share a unique experience in the beauty of nature. So, is it allowed?
What is a Tour Like?
First and foremost, you may wonder if a kayaking tour is an appropriate experience to bring a pet to. Our clear kayaks are spacious and offer 360-degree views, even into the water! With being a kayak on the larger side, there tends to be extra space for a furry member of the family. Our guides will set up your kayak to accommodate up to two people and help you get comfortable in the kayak.
After getting everyone into their kayaks and into the water, your guide will take you from Kings Bay to different areas accessible by water, varying from Three Sisters Springs to Hunter Springs
depending on the tour type and individual preferences. This gives the opportunity to see all kinds of native Florida wildlife, potentially even manatees! During our Three Sisters Springs tours you are also able to swim in the springs, should you want to! After your guide shows you all the amazing sights that Crystal River has to offer, tells you all about the local wildlife, and more, they will bring you back to Kings Bay.
Can I Bring My Pet?
Absolutely! We love having furry friends join us on tours. When you want to bring your fuzzy family member, please reach out to us and let us know that they will be coming along. This lets our guides prepare for your pet to join us and for everyone to know if there will be multiple pets on a tour. It will also let us know if we should have an extra kayak ready, if you have a particularly large pet that may be too squished between their parents!
How to Responsibly Have Your Pet Join a Tour
- Let us know ahead of time: We love to welcome pets on tours, but ask that we are notified beforehand so our guides know what to expect and can plan accordingly! ● Bring a towel: To avoid scratching the clear kayaks, we ask that pet owners bring a towel for their pet to rest on during the tour.
- Make sure your pet is comfortable: Because this is a tour on a time schedule, it may be best to test out your pet’s comfortability on the water beforehand if they don’t have
kayaking experience. We would hate for you to have to cancel your tour because your pet is too scared to be in the kayak comfortably!
- Keep them secure: It is always best practice to have your pet leashed, harnessed, or (if small enough) in a carrier/backpack. This makes sure that you are able to control any of their behaviors. Even if your pet is the most well-behaved animal, sometimes other people are uneasy around them or allergic, so making sure they aren’t able to get away from you is important!
