The Best Time of Year to Go Clear Kayaking in Rock Springs!

If you’ve ever been to Rock Springs, you already know it feels like a slice of paradise. You can never go wrong with crystal clear water, being surrounded by the woods, and wildlife around every bend (if they feel like showing off for us.) But if you’re wondering when the best time to experience it from a clear kayak, we’ve got you covered here. Each season definitely has its own perks but we’re going to go through each season and help you decide when it’s best for you and the time you are visiting!
Spring: crystal water and perfect weather

Spring is hands down one of the most popular times to paddle Rock Springs. The water temperatures stay around 72 degrees all year round and the air temps are warm but not too hot. Wildlife is active and we find the morning tours, which tend to have less water traffic, are a fan favorite! During this time the flowers are blooming and the mornings feel absolutely dreamy. If you’re looking for that classic Florida spring vibe, this is it! Just book earlier, about 1-2 weeks in advance because it’s the start of our peak season!
Summer: sunshine and adventure filled afternoons

Our favorite things about Summer are the long days, bright skies, and just being outside. Everyone needs a little bit more of it! The crystal clear spring water is super refreshing against the heat, making our clear kayak tour feel like the perfect escape. During this time we love that more families are able to join us, everyone gets to enjoy a slice of paradise and there’s plenty of opportunity to spot fish, turtles, birds, and sometimes even river otters! Oftentimes in the summer, with our infamous summer showers, we can experience the water turn into an amber color but the water is always clear! The top of the spring where we get to before we turn around to begin our float down, always is a beautiful blue color.
Fall: the hidden gem

Fall doesn’t get enough credit in Florida. Which we can understand but we promise you’ll fall in love with it..see what we did there? The crowds start to thin out, the humidity drops, and the sunsets get prettier. Honestly, as the seasons change, we always find a new reason to love Rock Springs. If you want a peaceful paddle, cooler foggy mornings, and a little extra space to explore, fall is a sweet spot. We highly recommend!
Winter: quiet, calm, and cozy

Rock Springs in the Winter might surprise you. The water stays the same spring temperature even when the air cools down (even for Florida), so this is actually one of the calmest, most relaxing times to go. Fewer people and that same peaceful vibe make it perfect for solo paddlers, couples or anyone who wants a slower-paced adventure. Now, the paddle itself is a bit of work out but we take stops along the way to let everyone enjoy the water. Even in the winter, you can work up a sweat and take a dip in the water. We like to call it ‘having the best of both worlds.’ Guests often wear warmer clothes or even windbreakers you can easily remove if you need to!
