What To Wear for Your Chaz Clear Kayaking Tour (Season By Season)
Florida is known for year-round activities that involve nature, adventure, and watersports! The Chassahowitzka River is a beautiful place to visit for an authentic and wild experience. From April to mid-November, we offer The Chaz River Tour, which is perfect for taking a dip to cool off in the hot summer months. From November to March, manatees migrate to this area to enjoy warmer spring water! This is when we offer The Chaz Manatee Tour , giving you ample opportunities to spend time with our gentle giant friends – the sea cow!

Here is a guide for how to prepare for your Chaz kayak adventure, no matter the season!
Winter
While our neck of the woods in Florida typically stays at comfortable temperatures, there can certainly still be some chilly days! These cold days are the BEST for manatee viewing, because manatees travel to the spring water to stay warm while the ocean water cools down. This means that you’ll want to prepare to keep warm while kayaking!
We recommend dressing warmly, while also keeping in mind that you may get a little wet! Hats, gloves, coats, and even HotHands are all reasonable to make sure you are comfortable. A towel is recommended to sit on so your body can stay mostly dry. Pack a thermos with hot cocoa or tea to stay cozy while you view our manatee friends. Since the coldest days are the most ideal for manatee viewing, make sure you are ready to settle in to watch the manatees play and swim!
Spring
Sometimes cooler days can still occur in the springtime, even while the temperatures start to heat up for summer. It’s a great idea to dress in layers that can be easily removed or added as needed. At times, mornings can start off chilly and foggy,, but as the sun comes out, you’ll find yourself getting toasty! In this case, you’d want to be able to remove any extra layers to be the most comfortable.
Unexpected showers may happen, so it’s best to bring rain gear, such as a lightweight rain jacket, just in case. However, if you are ready to get fully wet and want to swim in the water on warmer days, we recommend bringing along a snorkel to be able to view the incredible underwater caves found near Seven Sisters Springs! As long as conditions are still safe, our tours operate rain or shine!
Summer
Summers in Florida can get very hot! It’s extremely important to keep yourself hydrated and protected from the sun. During the summer, we love to show our guests around the Chaz River and let you experience all of the different swimming holes. So we recommend wearing your swimsuits or clothes you’re okay with getting wet!
This is also a great time to bring a snorkel and see all of the wonderful underwater wildlife, like crabs and a variety of fish! If you’d like to take these sights home, bring along your GoPro or other underwater cameras to take all the photos you’d like to remember your time with us!
Fall
As the summer cools down and moves into fall, we get ready to greet our manatee friends again for another year! Similarly to the springtime, we recommend dressing in layers so that you are prepared for any temperature changes. You may want to wear a swimsuit under your clothes in case it becomes warm enough to take advantage of swimming opportunities!
Feel free to pack your cameras for any possible manatee sightings as the weather turns cooler, bring a snorkel for swimming on hot days, and dress comfortably in layers.
