Celebrate Labor Day Weekend in Destin, Florida!

Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of American workers’ social and economic achievements. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize workers’ contributions to America’s strength and prosperity. On June 28, 1894, U.S. President Grover Cleveland signed legislation making it an official federal holiday.

Labor Day Weekend is the perfect time to visit Destin and Fort Walton Beach. Our temperatures remain at a beautiful 70-80 degrees during September.  Spend time at the beach, dining with live music, watching fireworks, or exploring the quieter remote Fort Walton Beach waterways.

Clear Kayak Guided Tour: Exploring the waterways is a must when visiting our area.  However, boat traffic during holiday weekends can be heavy and requires experience. Get Up and Go Kayaking Destin offers clear kayak tours that take you to the less traveled areas led by our experienced guides.  Tours are small, with a limit of 10 guests per tour; only four to six tours are available daily. https://getupandgokayaking.com/locations/destin/

Your adventure starts at a private launch in the quaint town of Mary Esther, just minutes from Destin, Crab Island, Fort Walton Beach, and Navarre. Our unique location allows you to explore remote areas in Santa Rosa Sound accessible only by paddlecraft!  There is a short paddle across the intercoastal waterway, and then the adventure moves into these less-traveled remote areas of natural beauty.  Photo and swimming opportunities abound!

In this clear kayak tour, explore salt marshes and uninhabited islands surrounded by picturesque white dunes. The paddle winds through a shallow estuary, where you can explore hidden coves and grassy flats.
